Recently, I spent the morning with the Verlinden family as they welcomed their third baby girl into their family. I’ve been photographing this family since mom was expecting her first baby. Returning to photograph families again and again and getting to witness your babies grow is the biggest honor. And as any parent knows, life with your first newborn is very different than subsequent babies when there’s lively kids in the mix.
The big sisters had been finding such joy in running down a little hill in their yard, so we quickly moved the session outside. The girls ran and played, and showed me the butterflies they had raised. When the butterflies had beed released, they were actually a little unsettled by the tiny creatures. (See the image of mom laughing while also tucking in her daughter to provide a sense of comfort – one of my favorites!) In the end, the butterflies were free, and the girls were happy to wave from a safe distance.
